There are 3 main type of Timber Flooring.

Type 1
Plank and direct stick Timber Floors

Plank on ply, direct stick and soft or hardwoods are by far the most difficult of the timber flooring to remove. They are very labor intensive in order to separate timber from concrete and the surfaces are generally made of hard woods and the adhesives are highly advanced rubber type glues. There are several process involved in removing these floors compared to other types of timber floors systems, the main difference being the technique of multiply saw cuts to individual planks in order to be able to remove the timber without damaging the concrete sub-floor. In addition there are special Grinding requirements.

Type 2
Cork Flooring and Parquetry
Cork and Parquetry flooring are generally adhered to the sub-floor also. However in most cases they are less challenging to remove but non-the less daunting for even the most skilled tradesperson.

Type 3
Floating Timber Floors
Floating floors are generally not stuck to the sub-floor. Many of the floating floors come as a click and stick systems, which are laid on foam underlay, which is glued to the sub-floor. Grinding these adhesives from the substrate is required after timber floors have been removed.
